Adam and Betsy met one fateful fall morning at Woodland Elementary in 1998. They had crushes on each other while they were in the same second grade class, but after Betsy switched elementary schools, the two didn't meet again until Jr. High. They became friends again during their time at PHS.

Fast-forward to New Years Eve as 2006 was coming to a close, Adam asked Betsy to kiss him when the clock struck midnight. The rest is history.

During the fall, Adam played soccer and Betsy ran cross country; they both ran track in the spring and were captains together their senior year. Both were active in student council, Adam as Vice President of the Senior Class and Betsy as President of the Executive Board.

Both Adam and Betsy attended Miami University and they majored in Finance and Strategic Communications respectively. Adam was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and Betsy a member of Delta Zeta. These organizations are where Adam and Betsy met some of their closest friends.

Favorite activities in college included eating Oxford's finest foods such as Bagel & Deli, Mac and Joe's, Skippers, Bell Tower, and 45 East. Aside from all the time spent studying at the library, they spent a "responsible amount of time" at their favorite bars: New Bar, Skybox, and CJ's. They also participated in philanthropic and social KA and DZ events and love travelling to Formals in Oxford, Cincinnati, and Gatlinburg.

Adam and Betsy moved to Chicago right after graduation. Adam works at Charles River Associates, an economic consulting firm, and Betsy is currently a Project Manager at AbelsonTaylor, an advertising agency. They work close enough to be able to walk and meet each other for lunch in the loop!

They enjoy trying new restaurants; a small sample of their favorites include Bavette's, Ukai, Cafe Ba Ba Reeba, Blue Door, and DMK. They also love spending time with friends at their favorite bars (such as Houndstooth, Old Crow, & Kingston Mines), going to the Cubs games, checking out summer street festivals like RibFest, and enjoying the parks and Lake Michigan's waterfront.

The couple now lives together in Lincoln Park.

South Carolina is a special place to both Adam and Betsy. Adam and his family has been vacationing to Hilton Head Island every year since he was born. Betsy has joined the Moore's on their annual HHI trip, but is previously familiar with the area due to her fond memories of annual family vacations to nearby Daufuskie Island.

While on vacation in April 2016, Adam "spontaneously" suggested they take a day trip to Daufuskie so Betsy could show him around. Betsy excitedly agreed, but she had no idea Adam planned for this day well in advance.

On Monday morning, it was time to embark on their ferry ride to Daufuskie, as there is no bridge to island. Adam made it seem like a spur-of-the-moment trip, and Betsy was clueless. On the boat ride over, Adam told Betsy he had a surprise for her and said he had arranged to go horseback riding on the island. This was something Betsy always wanted to do since the horses and stables on Daufuskie were just gorgeous. She didn't think the day could get any better!

Once on the island, they took a golf cart to the stables where they were introduced to their horses; Gus and Missy. It was just Adam, Betsy, and the guide; so private and romantic! They trotted down the palmetto-lined boulevard towards the old plantation, now known as the Melrose Inn, then approached the gazebo which Betsy's mom had mentioned earlier to Adam as a possible proposal spot. He knew right away it was the perfect place to propose.

They rode for an hour and a half and only saw three people on the entire island - it was so secluded and as if they had the whole island to themselves! After riding through the woods and ponds, near the inn, and along the beach, it was time to head back towards the stables. At this point, Betsy still had no idea that Adam was going to propose. They said goodbye to their trusty steeds and Betsy got behind the wheel of the golf cart to play "tour guide". She drove to the home where she and her family vacationed for years. As Betsy was taking a million pictures of their old vacation home, Adam was back at the golf cart, inconspicuously trying to decide where to put the ring for easy access while down on one knee! Once Betsy was finished taking pictures, Adam suggested they head back to the gazebo to take more pictures. She eagerly accepted another photo-op.

As the two pulled up to the oceanfront gazebo, Betsy parked the golf cart so the camera could be set up for prime self-timer photos (in all of the self-timed photos, Adam's hand can be seen in his pocket trying to hide the ring!). Betsy ran around snapping pictures left and right, then Adam brought her into the gazebo.

Adam and Betsy took a moment and admired the view of the ocean with Hilton Head in the distance and he told her he had one more surprise. Adam then got down on one knee and asked Betsy to marry him! She was completely surprised in the best way and says she will never forget the look on his face as he proposed.
